Doctor Haywick (or Hay Wick, to use his full name; he is often just referred to as 'Haywick') is a unicorn who lives in Ponyville and works at Ponyville General Hospital. He is the first pony, outside the Mane Six, to meet Geo.
Haywick was born in Manehatten, and went to the local school there. Due to his keen interest in studying, he was the subject of bullying, and would remain a blank flank for his entire school life. The bullying got to the point where Haywick was forced to keep a first aid kit in his locker, where he would sort himself out after being beaten up.
At seventeen years old, Haywick graduated from Manehatten High School, but was unsure of what he wanted to do with his life. He spent many hours poring over books and brochures for advanced education, but nothing seemed to interest him.
One day, while his mother was out shopping, a wasp entered the house and stung Haywick's father. Hay Stalk was severely allergic to bee and wasp stings, and so went into anaphylactic shock. Normally when this happened, Haywick's mother would inject her husband with a shot of adrenaline. Since she was out, the task fell to Haywick himself. Thinking about the times he had seen his mum do it, the young stallion administered the shot.
A few moments later, his father was on the road to recovery. Not only that, Haywick had earned his cutie mark; a syringe against a red cross. At that moment, he realised that his future lay in medicine. Grateful to his son for saving his life, Hay Stalk enrolled Haywick in the prestigious Manehatten Medical Academy, under the tutelage of Professor Plaster Cast.
Five years later, Haywick graduated with honours from the Academy and started working in Manehatten General Hospital. However, the hustle and bustle of city life began to weigh heavily on him, and he started looking for a transfer. This in turn led to him moving to Ponyville.
- Haywick gets his name from Hawick, a town in the Scottish Borders.
